Explore Mjellby Art Museum, Sweden’s only surrealist museum, featuring a unique collection and exciting exhibitions.
Mjellby Art Museum, home of the Halmstad Group and Sweden’s only surrealist museum, is a cultural gem just outside Halmstad. The museum offers a fascinating insight primarily into surrealism, but also into other art forms, through exhibitions featuring both national and international artists. Since 2023, the museum has also hosted a large deposit of works by the artist Thea Ekström, who was born and raised in Söndrum, just a short distance from the museum.
You can expect an inspiring atmosphere where the art sparks curiosity and invites reflection. Guided tours provide a deeper understanding of the exhibited works. In the museum’s creative workshop, you are welcome to sit down and create, either following instructions or working independently. If you’d like a souvenir, the museum shop offers posters, postcards, books, and gifts. For a snack, you can purchase coffee, tea, chilled drinks, buns, and cookies—or bring your own picnic to enjoy in the museum’s beautiful courtyard.
Mjellby Art Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 16:00. With a combination of art, history, and a beautiful setting, a visit here is a valuable experience, whether you are a local or a tourist!
Free entry for visitors under 20 years. Senior and student discounts available. Your ticket is valid for entry within 7 days of purchase.
