You tear off 80 km of gravel with 1,000 meters of altitude on the first day. The route heads west, with early climbs and views that make you forget the lactic acid. You’ll pass lakes, small villages and stop for lunch wherever you like – a ready-made package from the hotel is waiting in your pack. Today’s destination: Hultsfred. Here you check in at the classic Hotel Hulingen, founded by one of the Hultsfred Festival’s enthusiasts. Dinner? A tribute to the festival’s glory days, with rock ‘n’ roll in both the stories and the atmosphere.

After a hearty breakfast, you roll on into the next stage – another 80 km, 900 meters of altitude and scenery that continues to deliver. It will be mostly gravel, a few short pieces of asphalt, but always far from traffic. The road takes you through small Småland communities and up to Vimmerby. Here you stay at a selected hotel where you can unwind in the spa before the evening takes over.

The next round on the gravel is around 70 km, with another 900 meters of altitude to squeeze out of your legs. You cycle straight through Astrid Lindgren’s Småland – Lönneberga, Bullerbyn, and other places you recognize from childhood. The difference? Now you experience them with the wind in your face and gravel under your tires. Take a break whenever you want, take in the surroundings, take some pictures – this day is for maximizing.

When you get back to Fredensborgs Herrgård, a hot sauna, a cooling dip in the lake and a last dinner together with the gang await you. A finish worthy of a real adventure.

But maybe you’re not done yet? If your legs still want to get out, leave your pack behind and go for an extra ride in the stunning surroundings. We’ve got more routes, more meters of altitude – and you’re always welcome to go for another ride.

Day 1 – Bicycle check and planning

You will arrive on your own at Fredensborgs Herrgård, where Lena and her team will welcome you. After checking in, you have access to the entire farm and can relax after your trip.

Before the joint dinner, we will gather for a briefing of the upcoming cycling days, go through digital navigation and other important details to prepare you for your adventure.

Day 2 – Rock ‘n’ roll ride

Today is the day to get in the saddle!

About 80 km of gravel cycling and about 1.000 meters of altitude difference await. You will start heading west along winding roads, the early climbs rewarding you with breathtaking views of the Småland landscape.

Along the way, you will pass several lakes and charming villages. At some point, you will stop to enjoy packed lunches provided by the hotel.

Today’s destination is Hultsfred, a town with a rich musical heritage. Here you’ll check in at Hotell Hulingen, owned by one of the founders of the legendary Hultsfred Festival. Tonight’s dinner comes with a rock ‘n’ roll theme and stories from the golden days of the festival.

Day 3 – Highway to Vimmerby

After a good night’s sleep and a generous breakfast buffet, another exciting stage awaits. About 80 km and 900 meters of altitude difference are on today’s agenda. You cycle on scenic gravel roads that connect small Småland villages. There are some short stretches of asphalt, but the majority of the route is on gravel.

Your destination for the day is Vimmerby, where you check into a carefully selected hotel. Before dinner, you’ll have the opportunity to unwind in the hotel’s spa* – the perfect way to recharge for the next day.

* Booked separately on site subject to availability.

Dag 4 – Gravel race in Emil-land

Today’s stage covers just over 70 km and 900 meters of altitude difference, almost entirely on gravel roads. You cycle through the heart of Astrid Lindgren’s Småland and pass villages that inspired her famous stories, including Emil i Lönneberga.

Take your time, take some pictures, and fully enjoy this last day of cycling in this magical landscape.

Back at Fredensborgs Herrgård, a hot sauna and a refreshing swim in the lake await before we gather for a final farewell dinner.

Day 5 – Are we done already?

Is this the end of your adventure, or are you hungry for more? If you still have energy left, leave your belongings at Fredensborg Manor and set off on another tour of the stunning surroundings.

We are happy to recommend additional routes if you want to make the most of your time before heading home.
